I don't often read poetry. But I do enjoy songs. However, your poem kind of hits home. We are the same age, and it made me pause to reflect. Almost daily I ask myself "How did time go by so fast"?
It's also a commentary on how stilted human interactions can become with technology.
There's a good and bad to everything. Fifty years ago we would have never met. Conversely. back then I didn't need a screen to tell me how and when to be with friends ... "unlocked time" and "life unchained."
I suppose the end is a reminder to stop and smell the roses.
"the moment is free"
waves in the wind
on the flag
of your own private country
your tender words
show sorrow and change
bear remarkable children
Well, I tried something different ... a challenge, you know. Fumbled around with some words and an idea ... and rhythm. Hope it worked.
It works beautifully, Jim.
I thought you were quoting a poet
until I realized the poet was you.
I'm a poet and don't know it. : )
