I enjoyed these quotes JIm. They seem quite relevant today.
These could be a series every few months, with different themed quotes. Like some from the Stoics, then some from more modern leaders - JFK, MLK, and the like. And so on.
When we really think about the meaning of these quotes, then try to apply the wisdom to our everyday. lives, how can we not be better at being humans? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .
Excellent collection of wisdoms here, Jim! These quotes from long ago remind me of the French expression "Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose." Or, "The more things change, the more they stay the same."
Good piece Jim. I try and remember this one simple thing. Everything is relationship. In a marriage or personal relationship of any kind there are two ... I, and thee, if you will. This creates a third entity, always. In viewing relationships this way it has served me to ask myself "what does the relationship want? or better yet, what does LOVE want?" This allows me to step outside of my smaller, more selfish thinking and ask what this third entity wants and the answer is always evident. As an American citizen I see myself, and this country or more specifically the Constitution as a particular relationship. This creates that third entity. Wouldn't it be cool if our politicians viewed their positions similarly and at the end of the day, ask themselves what does this country want?

Thanks, Paul for your thoughts. And I like the idea of a series. I'm a "quotes" kind of guy, and use them often.
As for your question ... well, I ask the same thing.
Enjoy the sunshine, my friend. It was 11 degrees here (Atlanta) when I woke up this morning.

Thanks Steve. I found these and many more to be uncannily relevant ... not just to me, but I believe for everyone. Stay warm!

Sadly, DJoy, I think corruption is rooted so deeply in politics that they simply can't think of what's best for us as that third party.
Jim,
The geniuses you so ably quote here
have given us their wisdom, and we are grateful.
We honor their gifts by bringing them with us
as we continue their work of developing our civilization.
We today are creating a new vision of freedom
to lift us all higher.
It is a privilege to be alive at this time in history
when we are yet again called to build upon
the august foundations of the early thinkers.
It will take originality, audacity, and great love to do so.
May all us seekers and builders encourage each other!
